My puny efforts to get passenger trains and stations reinstated on 38 miles of existing, double track rail lines in Birmingham and the Black Country. Some, such as the Stourbridge, Dudley, Walsall rail line has its middle section reserved for trams that forever prevent passenger trains returning.

Menai Strait, express river, rail cycleway
2 hr 15 min cycle ride from Colin's house in Llanrug (approx pron: flanreeg) via rough bridleway and single stone pillar on hummock to the right; then, Caernarfon and S along superb empty and fast tarmac road next to Menai Strait with a line of white waves out to sea that looked like an impending tsunami! Soon an empty lane alongside a river that was moving like an express train and in full spate to Bontnewydd (app pron:bont-new-ith) but diversion for NCR 8 on tarmac to Dinas rail station. I turned back at Glan Ryd to gain the lane that comes out opp Colin's house. On this road, my second stone pillar on a hummock on the left. Weather dry, apart from early on v brief shower and NW wind. White cloud, higher and slowly brightening, with cloud off Moel Eilio by 2pm. Sunday 19 August 2007.
