Light rail or "bus on rails" trams (UK Tram) are the second most expensive transport mode after £200 m/Km HS2. Ten times more expensive to construct than rebuilding Borders Railway in 2015. Brum's Eastside ext is £133 m/Km. This is a national scandal and waste, to replace buses.
Are new standards for light rail engineering applicable to the heavy rail sector and even to HS2 and Eurostar, in order to save greenhouse gases and finite fossil fuels without compromising on safety?
