Former Captain of the 'Ark Royal' thinks ...

SUMMARY:  We have to show off, after all, only one of our two mighty magnificent aircraft carriers by sailing between Taiwan and China to show China who's the real boss in the world.  It's about containing China so that we, in the UK, don't get kicked around.

MORE DETAIL

It's about the UK projecting power and authority around the world.  Our fine, upstanding 31 democratic forces in NATO, are fighting evil and standing up for righteousness.  Every other country must know who's boss round here, with our mighty aircraft carriers to remind them.

One-time Captain of the 'Ark Royal' aircraft carrier thinks our two latest, brand new carriers (each costing £3.5 bn) are essential to maintain our influence and dominance around the world.

Philip (marr Joy, Messianic Christians), whom I met for the first time last night, said that the captain thought the carriers are to prevent other countries (like China?) from kicking off and throwing their weight about in their region.  We are not going to have any other country kicking us about! Our UK carriers sailing the high seas can impose discipline, indeed law and order to ensure that our UK/American-led Western ways our imposed around the globe.  The first new carrier sailed between China and Taiwan to that end - a year or two ago.

Never mind Michael Portillo's "disgraceful Opium Wars" in the 19th century or our Boer War from 1897 to 1901 or, our Christian Western world wars, followed by the Cold War.  Never mind our Korean, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos wars in the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s.

Never mind our Ukraine War since 2014 that started after our side, our over-enthusiastic pro-American/Western thugs, overthrew a properly and fairly elected, pro-Russian, President Yanukovych.  In 2010, "The election was judged free and fair by international observers.[5][6]" Wikipedia

100 killed in the Revolution of Dignity centred on Independence Square, Kyiv.  The American-led Western powers must maintain the imbalance in the world - for its own good.
