1948 can be seen as our side's 'illegal invasion and occupation' of Palestine. Britain retreated from Palestine and relinquished the mandate in the face of two years of violence from the Jewish terrorist gangs.
The West and Israel should not have profited from an opportunity to gain territory out of aggression and by rewarding terrorism.
2014 saw Russia take back Crimea after over-enthusiastic Western/European/NATO fanatics overthrew the pro Russian and fairly elected President Yanukovych.
Western expansion into the largely Muslim Middle East (Israel taking, holding and expanding land in Palestine over 76 years), together with American/NATO wars over that time, must have seen much more death and destruction than Russia has inflicted all around the world.
