"What my colleagues tell me what the people of Gaza say is that anything that comes out of the sky that isn't killing them is welcome but let's deal with the problems that we have ..."
Such was the emergency, Jordan and the UAE did air drops over the weekend - "their first air drops for months but one official said this was not a substitute for delivery by land" (Radio 4 News this morning).

Trump says that immigration is killing Europe. In fact, over centuries the glorious British Empire has been killing and enslaving people we have forced ourselves upon and, now, Climate catastrophe is bringing the hordes to Europe to escape environmental destruction, suffering and death. In addition, it is the Global North Minority which has the most responsibility for the Climate Emergency than the poor countries of the world - the Global South Majority.
Our whole culture, religion, thinking and belief systems are not just suspect but pretty rotten, I think. This conclusion was further reinforced after reading Jeremy Bowen's 2022 book, 'The Making of the Modern Middle East' which is measured and fair, readable but authoritative with masses of sources referenced. We are continuing our strong identification with Israel, still after Britain and to a lesser extent France, caused the problems in the Middle East over the decades from 1914.
