to retrofitting Richard

It was great to meet you in person this afternoon.  You have done enormous amounts of great, detailed work and are much respected.  Well done.

I'm a proper old grumpy grandad that has been around in Brum, non stop, for exactly 54 years.  I think I've uncovered the biggest and longest running financial/transport scandal in UK history but no-one else thinks so!  However, I'm wanting exactly what you want as regards home retrofit and read and agree with every word of your/our resolution for our Tuesday meeting.

I want the taxpayers' billions on military warfare, on Trident renewal, on war on countryside/nature and the extensions for High Scam 2, Metro, Sprint to be diverted, with all the workers reskilled and redeployed, into rigorous retrofitting of every building in the land!  Well, actually some of that money must be used for trains on railway lines not yet used, would you believe, for brand new energy inefficient buildings!

My delight and personal contribution is gate crashing Dudley's committees and the CA's Board meetings, when open to the public, with our propaganda.  They all have a few bright ideas but no funding for what they want to do.  Incredible!

Insulting 1% for heroes

They can find the money to increase military spending above inflation; for an undemocratic, very costly regional government; and a totally unnecessary, look how rich we are, "bus on rails" tram to replace perfectly good buses, YET NURSES GET A DERISORY 1% pay rise. Disgraceful! Timweller1@gmail.com

"Ministers have decided to “balance the books on the backs of the starving people of Yemen” in an act that will see tens of thousands die and damage the UK’s global influence, the head of the UN’s Office for Humanitarian Affairs has said.

"Speaking with rare bluntness after the UK more than halved its funds to help Yemen, the former permanent secretary at the Department for International Development Mark Lowcock said he was shocked by the decision. It is understood he was given no chance to appeal to the UK to rethink."   Guardian 8 March 2021

Charity Begins at Home with ME and only me, Land

Would anyone like to comment on the 100 years behind the times and very rude, "Bongo, Bongo Land" jibe from the racist, colonist and ignorant Godfrey Bloom, UKIP MEP?

Africa could call us,
"Military Aid not Overseas Aid Land" or,
"Colonial Power Land" or,
"The white man knows what is best for you Land" or,
"Do what we say, not do as we do Land" (our unethical and hypocritical foreign policy);
"Attack first, ask questions later, Land";
Attack with shock and awe before the summer heat or the UN weapons inspectors spoil our fun and put the kibosh on our aggression, Land;
"Charity begins at home, military expenditure begins and ends at home and all over everywhere else, Land".

COMMENT received:
An African once said, "When the white man came to Africa he had the bible and we had the land, now we have the bible and he has the land"

Non-violence and non-occupation are unheard of!

On Wed eve 11 March, the Archbishop of Birmingham did not comment directly on the points in my comment summarised as, "Would he be prepared to teach and preach non-violence in his sermons and homilies? Would he urge Protestants not to retaliate against this week's Catholics with their killing of three Protestants, with tit for tat killings of Catholics?" The media reported it as Republicans killing Loyalists, to take into account Christian sensitivities and to avoid pointing up Christian violence. They prefer to highlight Muslim violence, of course.

When will we have faith leaders urging non-violent direct action (NVDA), restraint and conflict resolution by Churchill's jaw jaw, rather than war war; all this, instead of a career in the military and the years of military attacks and occupations in foreign lands that that then entails? Our schools, colleges and universities also shy away from teaching non-violence and avoid highlighting our invasions, attacks and occupations.

When will we have them applying, in their sermons and homilies, the
teaching of the non-violent Christ in the Gospels to everyday living today?
