Retrofitting Plan is SMART Hub

Hi George  (Simms)

Thanks so much for this extremely helpful material that I have gone through.

Thanks to solar PV, we are now able to get out of gas almost completely.  Like you, we have gone to electric space heating with Herschel infrared panels for warmth and, for me but not my wife, boiling up water for washing!

Solar PV is so much more useful, it seems to me than going for heat pumps.  You then have to live within its capacity to deliver electricity, however.  But it does mean that every home, office, factory is turned into a mini power station to supply power to the people under the roof.  A lovely concept!

This is point 8 in the region's Carbon Zero Petition presented by Bob Whitehead (copied into this email) to the Env & Energy Board last Wednesday:
8)  As part of accelerating the domestic heating and insulation retrofitting program, can we have the plan for retrofitting published?

You are welcome to comment, of course.  Presumably, the SMART Hub is the plan?

Thanks again, keep up the good work and very best wishes

Thanks Tim

Broadly, yes, SMART Hub is the plan. As you’ll have seen from last week’s presentation, we’re seeking to expand our activity over time. Over time, we’ll be able to share more information about our work, though at the moment we’re busy setting up several projects. In terms of strategy/planning, the housing stock assessment work I mentioned is of particular importance.
