DO WHAT I DO!  Spend thousands of pounds on turning your home into a mini solar power station to generate over 38,000 kWh of electriciy in 8 years, of which I have used less than 6,000 kWh in that time.  32,000 kWh sent to the grid.  I am subsidising your electricity, even with FIT payments!  CONVERT EVERY BUILDING TO A PV POWER STATION.

Saying nice warm words; but carrying on regardless with business as usual

Ask the landowner and the walking, cycling, horse riding community to sponsor a footbridge or stile/gate.  Footbridges over 10 metres long should be maintained by Highways and the landowner.  There must be many wealthy landowners with the Bill Gates philanthropic tendency!

Why are the local authorities, regional government and national government doing the exact opposite of what is required to tackle their own self-declared climate emergency?  I have made suggestions to the WMCA, to our councillors and my MP but they just carry on swaying along, drunk on fossil fuels, on the broad road to destruction.  I have set my own fossil fuel budget by slashing my car mileage by 50% on 2019, on walking and cycling for shorter journeys and we spend a little over £1 a day on gas and electricity.  What about the rest of you following our lead and showing what they have to do?  Trains on railway lines instead of everything but the kitchen sink; PV solar on every roof and climate-proofing every building in the land, for a start.

For Climate Emergency, urgently get Constructing Futures that are Climate Secure by putting our workers into insulating every building, making every building needing minimum energy for heating and appliances. Doing PV solar on every roof with battery storage. NEVER MULTI-MODAL, MULTI-MIXED UP TRANSPORT, like over-indulgent, grossly extravagant, immoral greenwash that is Metro trams.

THE TOP FIVE EASY, OBVIOUS MEASURES

THE TOP FIVE EASY, OBVIOUS MEASURES:  Cutting greenhouse gases means cutting expenditure on everything except spending on the 101 measures that will reduce finite fossil fuel expenditure eg:

• insulating every building,
• PV solar on every E, W, S roof,
• Fare-Free Public Transport in the W Mids for the rest of the population (not just the 60s and over like me),
• returning railway passenger trains to the 106 Kms of railway lines that have not been converted to other uses (ie, no longer used for buildings or trams or roads or cycle-walkways or woodland),
• household carbon allowance (like council tax) to cut world and national travel.
