The Top People (judges, auditors, directors, the leadership team) were taken in by both Horizon and Metro mania

Have you thought of using transport infrastructure instead of destroying it, along with nature, housing land and public open space at Merry Hill Shopping Centre?

I think there is a parallel with the Post Office scandal and that is in the incompetence and idiocy of building bridges and underpasses to take passenger and freight trains and then not only refusing to use them but to think that railway lines were meant for homes, shops, offices and vehicles to run down them.  Our irrational authorities have built railway lines, plus all their motorway, road and canal crossings and then forgotten to put the trains back.  They will not put passenger trains on freight lines, either.  So we all get held up in road congestion and worsen the climate emergency and resource shortages.  What a joke!  What idiocy!

The LEPS were partly responsible and thankfully, they have now been disbanded.  Only to be replaced by an even more expensive and thick hierarchy of Combined Authorities and mayors in England to duplicate existing metropolitan borough councils that were doing everything for decades after Mrs T abolished the county councils.  She must be turning in her grave!  Her colleagues have undone all her good work!!

As I explained to Andy Street in person, at one of his 'Ask Andy' public meetings, what he and his leadership team have done is rather like putting London Underground trains on the Eurostar, HS1 line between London and Paris.  That is the epitomy of idiocy and incompetence, is it not?  A fair parallel with the behaviour of the officers, who should also have known better, in the Post Office.  Idiocy and incompetence all round, including lawyers, Tony who should also have been questionning, challenging, checking instead of assuming that our Top People on big salaries cannot possibly be mistaken.  The Small Man took the blame.  You lawyers don't come out well, Tony!

It seems that every judge swallowed the story that PO prosecutors could not possibly be wrong or, might have failed in their duties to consider that Horizon might have been at fault.  Did a single judge ask about Horizon, or query the oddity of previous impeccable integrity for years, all being ditched for a life of crime?  Of course, as part of the Establishment, judges naturally believed the Establishment line.  They were gullible.

Similarly, at 16 Summer Lane (Tram and WMCA HQ), the directors and council leaders cannot now lose face and come out publicly over their folly.  They will quietly ditch the 150 miles and 8 Metro lines by 2040, just as they did over the 200 Kms and 10 Metro lines by the year 2000.
