 3)    Campaign Strategy Conference.

 New Year is a good time to reflect on the past and plan.  UN secretary general, António Guterres summed up our global situation in these bleak words: “We are on a highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator”.  In the UK, at national, regional, and local level, we see denialism and incompetence among our politicians, plus blatant lies and greenwash from the fossil fool industry, banks, and lobbyists.

 Clearly, existing campaign approaches to the linked climate and ecological crises are not as effective as they need to be.  So, the last WMCC meeting agreed to support a one-day campaign strategy conference in Jan 2023 (or as soon as possible in the new year) to discuss and agree how we can work better together, how to involve many more people and communities in our campaigns and how to link calls for climate justice to immediate struggles for warm homes, quality public transport, living wages, anti-war, real democracy, etc.
