Yesterday, I took the X8 to Wolverhampton from Hagley Road/Wolverhampton Road South. Beeches Lane Cross was on the enormous sign near to the bus shelter. It picked me up at 0800 hrs.
The driver, on the coldest morning of the winter so far, was in rolled up shirt sleeves in his cosy cab but all the rest of us were very cold with no heating whatsoever, despite winter coats on. The windows were closed. Why no heating?
The driver took us on a very long route via Long Lane, Halesowen and on a so slow tourist tour through other parts of delightful Dudley borough. I remember when the X8 used nearly all the dual carriageways between Brum and Wolves. Why this change to make modal shift from car to bus even more unlikely (except for me)?
If a bus is called X before the route number, should this mean an express service, do you think?
Should honesty in your marketing be something you would want to aspire to, perhaps as you go forward into the brave future of bus travel for the tiny and declining number?
