Lucy Hodson quoted this

"We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”

These are the people who make the WMCA’s climate policy.
That’s why we demand a CA Climate Forum, meeting regularly, bringing together climate and community campaigners and trade unionists.

Tomorrow 2pm mtg of BCC Sustainability and Transport Scrutiny Ctte - chair Liz Clements. 2 big issues:

“Climate” on it’s widest interpretation should incorporate a sustainably developed agenda that takes into consideration everybody within the communities

People from around the region will present this petition to Mayor Andy Street https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/zero-carbon calling on the regional authority and all local councils and businesses to move rapidly to zero carbon policies.

Please sign the online petition and share with your own networks. We need to send the strongest possible message that current policies and plans are totally inadequate to deal with the climate emergency.

We demand immediate drastic cuts in carbon emissions and a more open and accountable body to make decisions on this crucial issue which affects everyone in our region.

At present the WMCA has an Environment and Energy Board to deal with climate issues.

We talked about need to be informed and idea of a conference, perhaps in the new year,  with national speakers and workshops covering the key issues raised by the speakers.

Import of putting pressure on local mps and councillors and how this could be part of building for a conference, eg, postcards distributed through active, vibrant street stalls etc..
