The best way to help is to insist/demand that ALL the expensive, unnecessary projects, eg: HS2, Metro, Sprint get pulled and the funds redirected and staff redeployed to Fare-Free Public Transport for all, true affordable housing at Merry Hill instead of Metro, urgent insulation of homes of those on benefits ... and much more, as here:
Radio 4 this morning had:
"UNESCO says a third of the glaciers located in World Heritage Sites will vanish by 2050 because of climate change. Researchers who used existing satellite data to track the shrinking of nearly 19,000 glaciers, say it is already too late to do anything about it.
Our Climate and Science reporter explains:
'This report concludes that even if global temperature increases are kept to below 1.5C ... glaciers at sites like Kilimanjaro and Yosemite and Mt Purdue in the Pyrenees will be gone in three decades. These rivers of ice are crucial for human survival. It is estimated that 50% of us rely on them as a water source for our homes, for growing food and generating energy from hydro power. The researchers say that global emissions need to be cut dramatically to reduce the loss of other glaciers.' "
